SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. – Zero Motorcycles Inc. will recall certain model-year 2022 hybrid-electric motorcycles to correct incorrect front-caliper bolts used in their manufacture.

The 23 Zero SR and Zero SR/F motorcycles, manufactured between April 22 and April 27, 2022, may have been produced with front brake caliper bolts that have a different thread pitch than specified.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-403, “The incorrect thread pitch could cause damage to the mounting threads on the fork, which could reduce the clamping load, which in turn could cause the caliper to come loose. If the caliper were to come loose, braking force could be reduced, which could cause a crash.”

The report further states that riders might become aware of the problem “If a caliper were to come loose, rattling or knocking noises could be heard during braking events leading up to reduced braking force.”

To remedy the situation, Zero Motorcycle dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the front brake caliper bolts and forks on affected motorcycles.

Dealers were scheduled to receive notification of the recall this week and owners June 27th.
