The design concept combines modern Dodge SRT Challenger Hellcats with the classic AMC hatchback.

Graphic designer on Instagram @jlord8 continues the trend of designing high performance or highly modified variants of production vehicles in hypothetical renderings.

This time, it's a Hellcat version of the AMC Spirit.

The photo on Instagram reveals the familiar hatchback offered in the late 70s and early 80s but with a high performance, modern twist.

Using some design elements and performance aspects of modern day Dodge Hellcats, the Spirit arguably feels right at home among modern day hot hatches.

In the rendering, the AMC Spirit has orange accents throughout the exterior and brass colored Hellcat style wheels with red brake calipers.

The car also has a colored gas cap, fender flares and a decal on the door with the standard Hellcat logo.

There is only a single image of the car, but the rendering provides a great look at what a hypothetical Spirit Hellcat would look like while keeping much of the original AMX design intact.

The hashtags in the post simply use tags related to Hellcat and the Spirit model itself, indicating a version of the car that largely keeps its Spirit appearance with Hellcat mechanical elements.

The AMC Spirit made its debut in the late 70s and left the assembly line until the early 80s.

At the time, a performance version of the AMC Spirit got called the Spirit AMX.

The title in @jlord8's rendering uses the AMX moniker, making it a safe assumption that in the vision of this car, it would likely get used for racing.

Given the high performance and adrenaline pumping mechanics of the Hellcat lineup that Dodge offers, this car, particularly in its compact body style, would be a very hot hatch that would likely take away a number of victories.

AMC or American Motors Corporation, eventually got acquired by Chrysler in the 80s.

Four-wheel drive versions of AMCs often bore the Eagle name, which became a brand name of performance oriented cars offered by Chrysler in the late 80s and 90s.

The other notable brand to come from the AMC merger was Jeep which remains a popular SUV brand to this day.

Given that the AMC Spirit and its AMX racing variant were part of a brand Chrysler eventually took over, modern day Stellantis owns the heritage to many of these companies decades later.

Currently, Stellantis offers no hatchbacks in the United States, but it does offer the lifted, all-wheel drive Fiat 500X which in some ways is a modern iteration of a compact AMC Eagle with four-wheel drive.

However, there is no Hellcat version of the 500X or any vehicle that isn't a Dodge though there are similar high performance versions of Chrysler and Jeep models with very similar supercharged engines that use other names.

Taking a look at the AMX Spirit Hellcat begs the question; whether Stellantis should possibly revive some AMC inspired-styling and introduce a high-performance hot hatch.
