Cycling is one of those things that I would personally like to get into a little more. It’s great exercise, it can be a lot of fun, and it allows you to explore places that you may have never seen. The biggest barrier to entry is the cost of a good bike, but right now at Walmart you can get a new Decathlon Rockrider ST50 Mountain Bike for $168. That’s more than half off the original $348 price tag.

The Rockrider ST50 is a 21-speed unisex aluminum mountain bike with a 26-inch frame. At this size, it’s recommended for riders who are 5’-9” through 6’-0”, but the adjustable seat makes it a little bit easier for people outside that range to be comfortable. The seat and the frame are raised, and it’s designed that way to keep your back straight while riding for extra comfort.

This bike has 80mm suspension on the front so it’s easy to overcome the rocks, roots, bumps, and other obstacles that you come across while riding along. As a semi-rigid bike, there is no added rear suspension to overcome harsher obstacles, but this also keeps the bike lighter so it’s easier to pick up speed on flat ground. This design is typically ideal for beginner bikers just starting out.

Since the brake levers are made of lightweight aluminum, they’re easy enough to be applied with only two fingers. Once applied, multiple calipers and sets of brake pads will close on the wheel and slow it down. If you notice the streaks disappear on the pads, it’s time to head to a bike shop and get them replaced.
