A common problem found on a racecar build is the lack of space or clearance for certain parts. One area where this can be frustrating is where the wheels and brakes meet when trying to make a set of 15-inch wheels work. Strange Engineering has a universal solution for this with their Low Profile Brake Calipers that provide plenty of room without sacrificing vital stopping power.

With the tight confines of a 15-inch double bead-lock wheel limiting the amount of space for brakes, racers needed a solution to get the stopping power they require. Strange took on the challenge by changing the design of their four-piston caliper to shrink the overall diameter of the brake assembly so it fits inside these wheels. This new caliper uses four pistons that have their own individual pads and that helps to reduce pad taper and backing plate distortion that causes brake drag.

JC Cascio from Strange Engineering explains what these Low Profile Brake Calipers can offer racers at all levels.

“The directional calipers that come standard in all Rear Pro Race Strange brake kits clear the majority of wheels, but there are a few instances where modifying the caliper or wheel was necessary to create proper clearance. The development of the Strange Low Profile Caliper solves any issues by reducing the overall diameter of the Pro Race brake kit to 12.660-inches. The low profile calipers are available with three different pad compounds; the soft, high heat, and hard metallic pad options offer different levels of braking that affect how aggressive the stopping will be. These options will accommodate all drag race applications.”
