The Platinum Edition treatment will be available on both SUV and coupe body styles.

In November 2021, Porsche had introduced the Panamera Platinum Edition. Now the German automaker has extended a similar package for its flagship SUV. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition has been introduced, and it packs some cool upgrades. Until now, the Panamera was the only model to be available in this sinister Platinum Edition. But as the Cayenne is a very popular model for Porsche, it is understandable why the Platinum Edition is being offered with the SUV.

The Cayenne Platinum Edition models will largely use the same styling as the standard models. However, subtle cosmetic touches have been applied for this special package to give the SUV some darker undertones.

The car in the images comes painted in black, other color choices include white, mahogany, moonlight blue, or light chalk gray. If you’re looking for flashy color options for the Platinum Edition, your choices will be limited to these. However, on all of them, certain design details are finished “Satin Platinum”. Elements such as the badges, air intakes on the fascia get the satin platinum blacked-out treatment. The same is done to the set of 21-inch RS Spyder design alloy wheels. This set of wheels is specially designed for the Platinum Edition model of the Cayenne. In contrast, the tail-pipes, and the window trim are painted in a high-gloss black to finish off the sinister look.

Like the Panamera, we expect the Cayenne Platinum E-Hybrid models to get subtle electric green touches on the badges and brake calipers.

For the interior, Porsche has added quite a few neat touches to elevate the in-cabin experience. Regardless of the exterior color choice, the Cayenne Platinum will get Chalk (gray) colored seat belts. The door sill guards will be made from aluminum featuring “Platinum Edition” monikers.

Additionally, many cabin elements and trims are finished in textured aluminum. Porsche will also emboss its brand logo on the seat headrests as standard. Strangely, there is no real trim made from Platinum available on the car, as its name would suggest. However, customers will have the ability to customize the various exterior and interior options on their Platinum Edition models courtesy, Porsche Manufaktur.

Standard kit on the Cayenne Platinum Edition models includes LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System, a premium Bose Surround Sound System, ambient lighting, 8-way adjustable sport seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

The Platinum Edition model will be offered in three trims — Cayenne, Cayenne S, and Cayenne E-Hybrid. It will be made available on both, the SUV and Coupe body styles.

There are no mechanical changes made to the vehicle. The standard Cayenne features a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine. It is tuned to offer 335 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Step up to the Cayenne S, it packs a 2.9-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine. Performance is boosted, offering up to 434 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. The Cayenne E-Hybrid on the other hand uses the same 3.0-liter, turbo V6 as the standard model, but is assisted by a plug-in hybrid system. This version packs 456 hp and 516 lb-ft, the electric system alone helps add 134hp. The Cayenne E-Hybrid models feature a 17.9 kWh battery pack to store its electrical energy to offer the boost. Amongst all three trims, the E-Hybrid is the quickest from 0-62mph, achieving it in just 5 seconds. All trims as standard use the ZF sourced 8HP series, 8-speed automatic transmission.

The reason Porsche gave Cayenne the Platinum Edition option is simple. It's extremely cool! The Cayenne is the second most popular Porsche, having sold 83,071 examples worldwide in 2021. Just for reference, in 2021 Porsche sold 84,657 vehicles in the US alone.

Sure, it costs quite a bit more. But if you’re looking for an SUV of similar nature, it might not be that big of a stretch. Especially with all the extra equipment offered as standard.

The basic Cayenne Platinum Edition costs around $80,350. That makes it around $10,000 more than the regular Cayenne model. Meanwhile, the Platinum Edition for the basic Cayenne Coupe costs $84,650. That translates to a premium of $5,800. The most expensive of the lot is the E-Hybrid Coupe model that will set you back nearly $100,000. But you can't put a price on those looks, now can you?
