BAULKHAM HILLS, Australia — Inchcape European Automotive Pty Ltd t/as Peugeot Citroen Australia, the importer and distributor of these brands, is recalling 22 examples of the 2016 Peugeot 4008, the second time in a little more than two years this model has been recalled due to a parking-brake issue.
According to a recall notice posted by Product Safety Australia (PSA), a part of the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission which has responsibility for recalls, the vehicles might suffer from a defective parking brake.
The Peugeot 4008 was also recalled in 2019 for different issues dealing with the parking brake: corrosion of the parking-brake cable and a problem with the rear caliper.

Specifically, the PSA report noted, “There may be insufficient engagement of the parking brake, due to excessive internal tolerances of the rear brake calipers.”
It further stated, “the vehicle may not be sufficiently restrained when the parking brake is applied. The vehicle may move and increase the risk of an accident, causing injury to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders.”
The government agency has asked consumers to contact a dealer and have the rear calipers of their vehicles replaced to rectify the issue.
