A new, limited edition, racing-inspired version of the Jaguar F-Pace was revealed overnight. The 2023 Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition 1988 was created by the personalization experts at SV Bespoke. Just 394 examples will be sold.

The Jaguar's name, and the number of models that will be built by Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations division, plays homage to the number of laps completed by the winning Jaguar XJR-9 LM at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988.

"Since its introduction in 2019, the Jaguar F-PACE SVR has established itself as a highly characterful and rewarding high-performance car," said Mark Turner, commercial director of Special Vehicle Operations at Jaguar. "Pairing these qualities with a level of SV Bespoke personalization and exclusivity never offered before on F-Pace makes Edition 1988 an even more captivating proposition. With strictly limited availability, we're confident this will quickly become the most sought-after F-Pace SVR yet."

The new SUV's exterior wears a Midnight Amethyst Gloss paint job that is exclusive the special edition.

"The design of the F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 is inspired by legendary Jaguar endurance racing cars," said Richard Woolley, Special Vehicle Operations creative director at Jaguar. "The Midnight Amethyst Gloss paintwork appears black until its amethyst undertones are revealed in bright sunshine, emphasising the SVR's dynamic exterior. To achieve this dramatic Ultra Metallic Gloss finish, we assessed more than 40 variations to create the desired depth of color."

Each Edition 1988 uniquely features a Sunset Gold Satin Jaguar leaper emblem on the tailgate as well as a laser-etched Edition 1988 logo on each front wing panel.

Jaguar's F-Pace SVR has Black Pack components that are fitted as standard including door mirror caps, brake calipers, wheel center caps and the letter "R" on the SVR badging.

Power comes from Jaguar's 550-horsepower, supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that moves the car from zero to 60 miles per hour (mph) in 3.8 seconds. The F-Pace has a top speed of 178 mph.

Open-pore carbon fiber finishers dominate the interior of the midsize SUV model, which also features semi-aniline Ebony leather upholstery and Sunset Gold Satin detailing on the dashboard, steering wheel spokes, gear shift paddles and seats.

Front Performance Seats feature heating and cooling functionality.

The Jaguar leaper emblem and horn ring on the steering wheel have a Satin Black finish.

SV Bespoke and Edition 1988 branding on the illuminated treadplates and dashboard completes the look.

"Edition 1988 started with our SV Bespoke and Jaguar Design teams taking inspiration from the iconic liveries of Jaguar's Le Mans-winning sports cars," Mark Wilkes, Director of Vehicle Personalization, Jaguar. "The result is a winning combination of colors, textures and features that celebrates sporting success while making the F-PACE SVR even more appealing."

Jaguar retailers around the world will take reservations for the model. It is priced from $110,000 in the U.S.

The Jaguar F-PACE SVR Edition 1988 will be presented alongside the 1988 Le Mans-winning XJR-9 on Special Vehicle Operations' display at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next week, and makes its dynamic debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 23-26.
