AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Fiat Chrysler Auto (FCA) is recalling certain 2020 Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X vehicles because the right rear brake caliper could have been fractured during the casting process.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a cracked rear brake caliper can fail, reducing braking performance and increasing the risk of a crash. As of Dec. 16, 2019, neither FCA or NHTSA had any reports of accidents related to this situation. In addition, FCA as of the same date, had not identified any warranty reports potentially related to this issue.

Chrysler will notify registered owners and dealers will inspect and replace, as necessary, cracked calipers.

The vehicles under recall were assembled between Nov. 14,  and Dec. 11, 2019. The total affected vehicles under this recall, NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V-909, is 1,352.

The recall is expected to begin Feb. 7
